USCAP Gynecological Pathology: Essential Knowledge for Diagnostic Practice 2022
What it USCAP ?
The United States and Canadian Academy of Pathology, abbreviated USCAP, is the largest North American organization of pathologists. It is the publisher to two major pathology journals, Laboratory Investigation and Modern Pathology.
As a major clinical subspecialty, diagnostic gynecological pathology involves a large number of disease entities and often complex histological variants. Recent developments, particularly molecular genetic discoveries, have introduced new and reclassified entities as well as refined diagnostic criteria for many existing disease processes, calling for knowledge update for practicing pathologists. A comprehensive review course is essential and highly desirable. This unique course offers an engaged learning experience with world-class faculty delegated from the International Society of Gynecological Pathologists (ISGyP). While providing comprehensive coverage, the course emphasizes knowledge gains in morphologic recognition, using ancillary immunohistochemistry and molecular genetic studies in the most challenging areas, particularly new disease classifications/diagnostic criteria.
Practicing academic and community pathologists, and pathologists-in-training
Upon completion of this educational activity, learners will be able to:
- Recognize updated diagnostic criteria and disease classifications in gynecological pathology
- Recognize unusual but important gynecological disease entities
- Apply immunohistochemical and molecular genetic studies for diagnosis and differential diagnoses
- Understand the clinical applications when applying new diagnostic knowledge in gynecological pathology
